MINDFUL PARENTING PROGRAM

Come together with other parents in this 8-week program to learn and apply the skills of mindfulness. This program will help you reduce parenting stress, develop greater self-compassion and empathy, and improve your relationship with your child.

 

At its heart, this course focuses on developing the skills to take better care of ourselves.

ABOUT

This Mindful Parenting course is designed for parents of young children (1-5) who wish to parent with more calm awareness, greater empathy and compassion, and less reactivity and stress. You will learn how to notice automatic patterns of reacting, to develop greater self reflection and to see the unique nature of your child. Identifying and exploring how you were parented as a child is also an integral part of mindful parenting. We will come to understand how these experiences both trigger and inform our own parenting behaviours. You will learn the skills to cope with difficult emotions and also to support your child in dealing with their own emotions.

The course is suitable for parents with no mindfulness experience as well as those who wish to deepen their mindfulness practice. 

 

FORMAT

You will meet with other like minded parents for 2 hours each week for 8 weeks. The group is capped at 18 participants. There is a time commitment of 45 minutes per day of mindfulness practice.  This can be the greatest challenge of the course, however it is the commitment to this practice that results in more lasting and meaningful change.

Session 7: Love and Limits: Cultivating Compassion and Setting Limits
Session 8: Are We There Yet? A Mindful Path Through Parenting

 

This Mindful Parenting program is based upon the evidence based program developed by Susan Bögels and Kathleen Restifo (2014).
