Meet Dr Emily Musgrove.
Clinical Psychologist, Author & Speaker
Â
I’m Dr Emily Musgrove, a registered clinical psychologist, author and speaker based in Claremont, Perth, and available online throughout Australia.
For more than 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people through anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, life transitions and the quiet but persistent feeling that something just isn’t quite right.
My work is grounded in evidence-based psychology, but above all, in genuine human connection. Because lasting change doesn’t come from judgement or having all the answers. It comes from feeling seen, understood and supported enough to move forward.
I have always believed that no matter what someone has experienced, no matter how overwhelmed, disconnected or lost they feel, no human being is broken.
We can become stuck. We can lose sight of ourselves. We can find ourselves living from fear rather than from what truly matters.
But we are never beyond change.
My role as a psychologist is not to tell you who to become. It is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with who you've always been beneath the worry, the self-doubt and the experiences that have shaped your life.
I bring warmth, genuine care and evidence-based psychological tools to every session, alongside an unwavering belief that there is always a way forward.
Compassionate, evidence-based support for lasting change
Every person’s story is different, so every therapy journey should be too.
Drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness and Compassion-based therapies, I tailor our work together to your unique experiences, goals and values.
Together, we’ll explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop practical skills to navigate life’s challenges, and cultivate the self-awareness and self-compassion that support meaningful, lasting change.
Compassion
If I’m honest, compassion is the value closest to my heart.
It shapes the way I practise, the way I parent, the way I love and the way I move through the world.
I care deeply about the people I work with, but I also care deeply about how they learn to care for themselves. Because I’ve seen, both personally and professionally, what becomes possible when we stop being our own harshest critic and begin meeting ourselves with genuine kindness.
Compassion changes the way we relate to ourselves, to others and to life itself.
Curiosity
I’ve been asking big questions for as long as I can remember.
What makes a life feel meaningful?
Why do some people flourish while others quietly struggle? What helps people create lasting change?
That curiosity eventually led me to psychology, but it has never stopped guiding my work. I approach every person with openness, warmth and a genuine desire to understand their unique story, knowing there is never a one-size-fits-all answer.
Connection
I believe we are wired for connection.
Connection with ourselves.
Connection with others.
Connection with the things that make life feel rich and meaningful.
So many people arrive in therapy feeling disconnected from all three. My work is about gently helping you find your way back, because meaningful change rarely happens in isolation. It happens in relationship—with ourselves, with others and with the life we’re creating.
Hope
Hope is one of the most important things I bring into the therapy room.
Not blind optimism or empty reassurance, but a deep, evidence-based belief that people can change.
After more than fifteen years of practice, I have seen remarkable transformations. Again and again, I’ve witnessed people move through experiences they once believed would define them.
That belief has never left me.

A commitment to healing
Psychology never stands still, and neither do I.
I genuinely love learning. The science of human behaviour, the research behind meaningful change and the complexity of what it means to live well continue to fascinate me.
Ongoing professional development isn’t simply something I do because it’s expected—it’s something I value deeply, because the people who trust me with their stories deserve a psychologist who brings curiosity, experience and the very best evidence-based care into every session.
What continues to inspire me most is witnessing the moment something shifts.
When someone begins to see themselves differently.
When life starts opening up again.
Being trusted to walk alongside people during those moments remains one of the greatest privileges of my work.
